Currently in my pre-clerkship curriculum I use Amboss in during my study hours and in my collaborative team based learning courses to confirm and enforce high yield concepts. The customizable practice questions help me solidify key points and I can tailor them to my systems based learning model. I believe the practice questions and Anki add-on are the most helpful components in the subscription and highly recommend for all students! I look forward to using this application into my next years of training.
I am now a PGY2 resident. I use Amboss often in the clinic as a quick resource to remind myself the most critical components of an illness or treatment option. In particular, the acute management checklists are key when a tricky situation pops up and you have to think fast! Beyond the practice questions, Amboss is an excellent resource for distilling important information, connecting different ideas, and finding images or tables that help solidify key knowledge!
AMBOSS has been a powerful tool throughout my preclinical years-- allowing me to not only test my knowledge through a diverse and challenging q bank, but also by providing me with a rich repository of learning materials that will reliably prepare me for testing. I look forward to continuing to use AMBOSS once I enter my clinical years. I have confidence that I will benefit immensely from the information at my fingertips for many years to come.
Amboss helped me understand concepts step-by-step. I especially appreciate the mouse-over format of explanations as well as the ability to show attending tip and choose wrong answers multiple times, to learn from each answer individually. This helps me put together my thought process methodically and understand concepts more deeply. In addition, in the clinical setting, Amboss has helped both me and my residents understand the latest evidence-based clinical practices in various situations. For instance, we looked up what triple and quadruple therapy were for H. pylori treatment and were able to quickly glance at the most evidence-based guidelines including dosages for the medications involved, which could be extrapolated to Amboss's usefulness in a plethora of other cases.
I love the Anki add-on for AMBOSS, the medical library, the question bank, and the study plans offered. Being able to quickly look up information on rounds saved me from so many pimp questions and discussions that I needed extra information for. I love how integrated it is into Anki as well. Having practice questions automatically formulate based on the cards I've done is incredibly valuable.
The AMBOSS QBank and focused articles are one of the best resources for both pre-clinical and clinical med students. The feedback in practice question sets is focused on helping students LEARN while doing questions and their linked feature with other study tools like ANKI puts them in a category of their own.
I have really enjoyed having a resource that can bridge the gap between knowledge, questions, and flash cards. I don't think there is another service that does that.
As a 2nd year medical student, the three most helpful areas of AMBOSS for in-house exams and Step 1 preparation include the content articles (each disease/condition has a summary, epidemiology, pathophysiology, treatment...), practice questions, and the AMBOSS Anki extension. Though I am still in the midst of preparing for these examinations, AMBOSS has helped tremendously in learning and synthesizing the extensive array of pathologies we are responsible for. It has been my #1 resource alongside UWorld.
Amboss has been a wonderful tool for me to supplement my learning in medical school. Question banks on targeted organ systems has allowed me to make connections between disease states and overall improve my knowledge base. Additionally, I love that Amboss offers a practice Step 1 exam and I am hopeful that it will eventually be offered year round for those of us testing off-cycle. I have noticed a major improvement in my test scores and I couldn't be more thankful that Amboss has been instrumental in my growth as a future clinician.
AMBOSS has been crucial to studying for boards and improving my clinical reasoning. I swear by the question banks as they challenged me to think more critically than other question banks. During clinical rotations, AMBOSS has helped me broaden my differential and gain improvement in treatment ideas.
As a first-year medical student, AMBOSS has been an essential component of my success. While studying, I look up every topic on AMBOSS for a clear and detailed overview. In addition, the questions on AMBOSS are amazing! Thanks to AMBOSS, I have excelled in my blocks.
AMBOSS is so integrated in my study routine that I consider it the best learning tool I have ever had. I am a visual learner who can easily spend five hours working on a flow chart. The Library has cut that down to an hour, easily, and the browser extension has been golden for expanding on difficult topics during dedicated. I am a chronic hoarder of tabs and being able to get a pop up with more info without going down a rabbit hole has changed the game. The study plans amazing, too, and so good for identifying and targeting weak points.
I love that AMBOSS allowed me to contextualize my school's lecture content in their practice problems. I found that their questions required multiple steps of logic, which is very similar to NBME style questions. I also find that the explanations are very thorough, and I usually make anki cards based off the explanations given. As an avid user of anki, I also found their anki add on to be incredibly useful, since I could access definitions and quick summaries of terms that I did not know simply by hovering my mouse over a term. Without the AMBOSS anki add on, I would likely not look up these terms myself. AMBOSS has allowed me to apply my school's material to patient cases which has allowed me to ace my exams and feel more prepared for my future clinical rotations.
The detailed explanations, high-quality images, and integration of clinical knowledge with basic sciences help me grasp complex concepts more effectively. Additionally, the AMBOSS library, with its concise and easily navigable content, allows for quick review and deeper learning. The fact that I can access relevant information directly through its smart highlighting and cross-links makes my study sessions more efficient and focused. Overall, AMBOSS has been a crucial resource in enhancing my understanding and performance throughout medical school. It was the most similar to the in-depth lectures in my first two years and I was able to impress in every situation by my expansive knowledge I got from AMBOSS.
I often found lectures too dense such that they obscured the main points and clinical relevance of disease presentations, but the AMBOSS knowledge library is organized in a manner that is easily digestible and simple to review. I couldn't imagine not having AMBOSS in my pocket while on rotations. The question bank however, is the backbone of the platform and really helps you understand if what you are learning is being retained. The days of buzzword recognition are gone and we need to be recognizing clinical presentations from a variety of viewpoints.
Amboss helped not just with practice questions and excellent answers, but the attention to detail with knowledge you will need to know to impress your preceptors on rotations and auditions was 2nd to none. The only resource that has excellent quality in multiple sectors of medical education.
There are many reasons why I love using AMBOSS on a daily basis while on my clinical rotations. The concise articles make it easy for me to brush up on topics during rounds and between cases, which has boosted my confidence. In addition, the question bank has been extremely helpful in clinical knowledge through case-based real life scenarios. The differential diagnosis tools and algorithm has helped me work through complex cases more systematically and helped me prepare for talks and discussions with my residents and attending.
Amboss is a comprehensive place to access information that’s is formatted in an easily accessible way. Other platforms like UpToDate has a lot of information and doesn’t give info to remind you of pathophys. Amboss has all the information from pathophys to management that is easy to navigate and easily explained.
I loved using AMBOSS throughout both my preclinical and clerkship years. During the preclinical phase, AMBOSS offered concise, visually appealing pearls for each condition, structured in a way that made complex topics easy to understand. In clerkships, AMBOSS provided up-to-date treatment plans for every case I encountered, which kept me confident and informed on the wards. As a daily Anki user, the seamless AMBOSS integration proved invaluable, reinforcing my learning and helping me stay on track. For my USMLE Step 1 preparation, I relied solely on the AMBOSS Qbank—and was able to pass without issue.
The AMBOSS app was the most useful tool during my last 2 years of medical school. It has a good amount of information in a very accessible and helpful format (follows the logic of information that we seek while on rounds, chart-checking, writing notes, etc). It is nice that I don't always have to know what I am searching, but the way the pages are integrated/linked among others, I can quickly find the term or bullet point I am searching. Diagrams are useful and aesthetically pleasing, so I have shared them with residents numerous times which they appreciate.
I am obsessed with the AMBOSS extension on Anki - it is such a game changer. Even if AMBOSS wasn't a totally external site, I would pay for this extension alone just for Anki. To make things even better, AMBOSS goes above and beyond UWorld and is literally the Bible or Google of medical school. The question bank is just phenomenal too. I can use it through my shelf exams next year and beyond. The app is also super helpful on the go.
AMBOSS has been a terrific resource for me to learn from the questions I get wrong. Whether is is in a question session, using their add-on for Anki, or learning more about a patient presentation that I've seen on my clinical rotations. It is much easier to find what I am looking for than some of the other resources out there and is truly a one-stop shop for all of the medical knowledge I need.
There are countless resources available for medical students, but Amboss stands out as one of my favorites. First, its extensive question bank is incredibly helpful for building and refining my medical knowledge. I also appreciate the study plan feature, which lets me create tailored plans for long-term goals, like preparing for the Step 2 CK exam. But what really sets Amboss apart is that it’s much more than just a question bank. It offers a wealth of reliable articles and in-depth information, making it easy to review topics I find challenging or may have missed in practice.
AMBOSS has been so helpful during my time in medical school. From studying for preclinical exams, to board preparation, and now clinical rotations, AMBOSS has provided me with valuable review material every step of the way. The Q-bank has been a great way to test my knowledge, and I have found it to be quite representative of actual board exams. Additionally, the Anki add-on has made it easier than ever for me to review topics that I may have forgotten or not studied yet.
Testing: I think AMBOSS has a phenomenal Qbank. The questions have a wide variety of difficulty, it hits on niche clerkship factoids that appear on SHELF while also testing systemic ideas, and the concise explanations right below each question are amazing and save so much time.Anki: The connection to Anki is super useful for definitions on my cards I need to remember, as well as for linking to the databank to further pursue the idea behind a card. This extends to the ChatGPT function that allows me to really dig in when I don't get a concept or really care to master it.Clinically: The clinician library has saved me on multiple encounters with patients where I needed to learn/know/remember something about a condition to get a good interview and impress my attending - it has never let me down. Also it helps me with modern and updated clinical decision-making when designing a good plan for a patient.
