Medicine moves fast. The demands on today’s medical professionals are higher than ever, whether you're learning the basics, practicing medicine, or teaching the next generation. AMBOSS has always believed in supporting you at every stage with trustworthy, actionable content. Now we’re taking that promise one step further.

Meet AMBOSS Assistants (beta), a new, cutting-edge collection of AI-powered tools that live alongside AMBOSS articles. Think of them as intelligent power-ups that make articles interactive: The Assistants help you generate helpful content such as dot phrases, checklists, and consult briefs.

What are AMBOSS Assistants (beta)?

AMBOSS Assistants are AI-powered tools integrated into the AMBOSS platform. Each one is purpose-built to help you interact with articles in new ways, whether through increasing your understanding, applying clinical reasoning, or turning knowledge into teaching moments.

They’re context-aware and embedded in all AMBOSS articles so that you can enjoy a more efficient and streamlined AI experience, grounded in trusted medical content. This is an early look at how we’re transforming our reliable content into interactive experiences, and we’ll be working with a group of our users to help shape its future.

Why we built this

We keep hearing the same concerns from students, practitioners, and educators:

  • “I know AI is a big deal, but I have no idea where to start or what’s even possible.”
  • “I’ve tried using AI tools, but I’m not sure how to ask the right questions to get useful answers.”
  • “I’m wary of using generic AI tools. They’re not built for medicine, and getting things wrong could have real consequences.”

AMBOSS Assistants have been designed to address exactly these concerns by combining expert knowledge with the power of guided AI.

What you can do with Assistants (beta)

There are three categories of AMBOSS Assistants:

Learn: tools that teach and test clinical thinking

  • Clinical Case Simulator: Practice reasoning through interactive case scenarios.
  • Learn by Teaching: Explain article topics back to the Assistant to train active knowledge retrieval.
  • Explain Simpler: Break down complex concepts into plain language.
  • MediCoach: Simulate oral exams with progressive questioning.

Practice: tools that streamline clinical workflows

  • DDx Brainstorming: Expand your differential thinking.
  • Dot Phrase Generator: Use drafted, documentation-ready phrases.
  • History Checklist: Generate patient interview checklists.
  • Prep for Consult: Get step-by-step guides for effective consult calls.

Teach: tools that help you share knowledge, fast

  • Syllabus Creator: Design a structured curriculum.
  • Slide Deck Creator: Generate outlines for presentations.
  • One-Minute Preceptor: Create a script for bedside teaching.
  • Chalk Talk Outline: Build a blackboard-ready teaching plan.
  • Clinical Reasoning Coach: Test reasoning in ambiguous cases.
  • Teaching Pearls: Select high-yield insights for quick teaching moments.

Why it’s still in beta

This is an early look at where AMBOSS is headed. AMBOSS Assistants are a beta feature, which means that we're actively testing, improving, and learning from your feedback.

But even in beta mode, Assistants reflect the values we’re known for: trusted knowledge, smart guidance, and a commitment to medical excellence.

What’s next?

Expect more refinement and deeper integration into your daily workflows in the coming months. Assistants are just the beginning of how AI can support you in learning, practicing, and teaching. As always, we’ll continue to build with care, focusing on safety, clarity, and medical accuracy. Your feedback will help to make it better, so stay curious and explore with confidence. You’ll also be able to submit your own Assistant ideas. Over time, we aim to open up the creation process itself, turning AMBOSS into a platform for tailored, use-case-specific AI assistants across the full spectrum of medical knowledge.
